I met the most wonderful woman today and can’t stop talking about Barbara Ivey!
I had gone to a big sale at Burlington this morning, (social distancing in place) planning to buy 4 more bottles of a body wash I had purchased earlier in the week.
At the last minute, I remembered needing a baby shower gift. By the time I was done, the check out line was over an hour long!
I quickly realized there was no way I could get through to the register and make it home for my Zoom call in an hour. And I needed the stuff, today.
That’s when Barbara Ivey, whom I had never met, offered to make my purchase for me and meet me later to pick it up! She said I could pay her then. Talk about trust. And without hesitation. This extraordinary offer felt TOO generous to accept! But eventually I agreed, remembering someone once told me “Don’t kill the blessin’s”.
She had recognized me from our nearby town. Said she often saw me out walking.
I gave her my name and phone number, thanked her, and left the store in complete awe of one woman’s generosity!
Today, I allowed a stranger to bless me with her kindness. And what I know is……we were both blessed.
Thank you Barbara Ivey, YOU made my day. And I made a new friend.

Such a nice gesture. It shows how one’s actions are seen by others even when you don’t know it. You made an impression on her before she met you.
