Town Cows

I walk past the cows most days. And I’m happy to see them. I wonder “how long will they be here?”

Our town, like many small towns, is undergoing a significant growth spurt. Apartment buildings and townhouses are underway. More retail is coming. Traffic congestion is guaranteed. Some people are all for it, wanting big box stores, more fast food. Others say they are moving on…..further out where the small Southern life still exists.

I heard the farm property has been sold but have also been told otherwise. It is merely a matter of time.

I actually stopped a lady walking past me, earphones in, talking on her phone, to say “Look! Look at those white faces”. She kept moving.

For now, the cows are grazing, and the calves are warming themselves in the Spring pasture. I hope they get to stay a good while longer. That’s what I always think.
